Place: Ar/Ge.T38.49

Collapse context in the northwest quadrant of our extension to T38, situated just west of locus 48. This locus refers to the area north and west of locus 28 (the room that contained the tomb). It proffered an incredibly prolific amount of ceramic materials and fauna. This unit was excavated in order to find the join and articulate the walls that constitute the northern (locus 26) and western (locus 31) walls of room 28. The matrix was a dark brownish-black with a considerable number of stone inclusions between 10 and 30cm in size. It is possible that these stones were collapse from the walls -- although the height of the walls is consistent with the area exposed in 2016. In this context it is worth noting that cultural materials are situated in close proximity to the wall areas. The northernmost part of the context was almost sterile. This suggests that we have found the extent of this architectural construction.
