Place: Ar/Ge.GeT2.E9

Rectangular installation with evidence of burning as seen by a concentration of ash, burnt brick, and packed clay. The feature is quite linear and consists of a long rectangular stone approx. 1 meter long and 17 cm wide (30 cm. maximum width and 2 meters maximum length for installation) with a small "monolith" stone at its S. end (50 cm high). A crushed storage vessel was found on the NE side of the feature. A C14 sample was taken from the SW side on the opposite side of the long rectangular stone. The vestiges of a wooden beam are adjacent to the crushed vessel pieces and may be a continuation of the traces of burned beam associated with locus 8. 8/1/03 - Locus 9 turned out to be an altar area including the original rectangular installation and a basin (locus 213) surrounded by a clay platform. The locus extends oer most of the NE section of T2E. Numerous small finds and 3 semi-intact storage vessels.
